Why Won't My Suburban Range Oven Stay Lit?

Nov 27th 2020

Here is another very common problem most RVers face with their Suburban range. The oven will light and heat up and then the burner and pilot will shut off. Unfortunately there are a few things that can cause this so here is what you will need to check:

1. The first and most common problem is that the pilot burner is obstructed or has gone bad. The way to tell is if the burner lights and the pilot shuts off which will cause the main burner to go out once proper temperature is reached. If this is the case, replace your pilot burner.

2. If this doesn't fix it then your pilot tube may be the culprit. Check your tube for any kinks or cracks. The tube may also be obstructed and in need of replacing.

3. The last issue you may be facing is that your gas control thermostat in your manifold has gone bad. If the gas pressure is not high enough coming from your thermostat, the thermostat or manifold will need to be replaced.

I hope this helps and happy camping!
